The Community Animal Shelter in Kamloops is a new concept for BC SPCA in Animal Care. The facility combines an animal shelter with a veterinary surgical clinic that provides spay / neuter and other procedures. The functions have separate public entries (allowing independent operations) with 2 internal connections that allow for staffing and operational efficiencies. The shelter includes 12 shared dog apartments, 4 communal indoor-outdoor areas for cats. small animal room, isolation & interview rooms & viewing areas,

The centre utilizes a sophisticated ventilation system to reduce the spread of airborne disease, and a large multi-purpose room that can be used for training, education and other community uses. The two functions share a large multipurpose room with washroom and kitchenette for community, as well as shared use. The exterior cladding includes cement panels as well as concrete masonry and veneer stone at the public entries.
