Wilson Beck Insurance Office Fitout

Meiklejohn Architects provided full architectural services for the fit out of an existing double height tenant space into a new office for approximately 40 staff for Wilson Beck Insurance in an 1980s commercial building they had acquired located near Banks and Baron Roads.  We worked closely with the owner group to develop a concept which flooded the formerly dark ‘back of house’ space with natural light through the introduction of 14 new exterior ‘archer’ windows and 4 large skylights.  The mezzanine was repurposed and refinished into a staff gym and provides views overlooking the open work area below.  The staff kitchen was another opportunity to bring more light into the space through the use of a  fully glazed garage door on the exterior and a folding sliding door to the boardroom which allows the space to ‘grow’ in size for larger staff and client functions.

Our office worked well with Hatch Interior Design to complete the offices along the exterior with nine-foot-tall clear glazing and large wood doors accented with black frames and hardware.  The open work area is framed with wood piers and frames and a black industrial ceiling whereas the reception is framed by the existing windows and a detailed series of highly crafted millwork kiosks.   The project material palette is crisp and inviting with an extensive use of wood veneer and black accents.
