BNA Building Accessibility Upgrades
2019 - Kelowna, BC
|
This project involved an architectural intervention to provide essential accessibility upgrades for a renovated heritage industrial building in downtown Kelowna. To give a clear distinction between the historic and the contemporary, the new entry and elevator core were designed as a sleek black glass tower. This purposeful material contrast shows the textural variance between the modern glazing and the original building’s weathered brick.
The structural steel and exit stairs are finished in black, while the exterior is clad in a dark bronze aluminum storefront system. Originally an agricultural storage warehouse, the landmark structure has been transformed into an urban hub. It is now home to BNA Brewing Co., a popular local brewpub, alongside various other ground-floor commercial units (CRUs). |
